IOM design Kantun S
Kantun - means chine in colloquial Croatian language. "S" is standing for "softer"
Designed and built by Robert Grubiša and Zvonko Jelačić
Kantun S is development of Kantun design. We was not satisfied with the quality of the original Kantun mould so we took opportunity to improve the basic design and made new plug and mould . Promising performance of Kantun encouraged us to further refine the hull form.
Kantun S has:
- Fuller bow shapes and wider stern having still narrow beam as its predecessor
- Chine is "softer" compared to the "sharp" chine on original Kantun
- Small recess on the deck for easy opening of the plastic lid has been made
- Stern/transom area has been re-designed
- Craig Smith's fin & rudder as well as locally made bulb.
New plug and mould has been made and three boats have been moulded and outfitted to be used by top Croatian skippers on 2013 IOM World Championship in Israel where they was tested against the highly competitive IOM fleet.
CRO skippers of three Kantun S boats on IOM World Championship 2013 scored 9 first places and 8 second places in 25 races (without seeding race). Three times Kantun S boats have scored first and second place in the race. More about IOM designs statistics on the IOM World Championship 2013 on page Statistics No.1 and Statistics No.2.
